Art Exhibitions
In the café area we host exhibitions of local artists' work and, new for 2010, a separate showcase of local crafts.
The work is on show for 6 weeks and sometimes begins with a private view.
Paintings and photographs are for sale and the shop take a small percentage of any pictures sold.
Our art committee consists of three local people (two artists and one member of the Village Shop Committee), who are very keen to maintain a reasonably high standard of work, so the artists are asked to send some reproductions of their work and a summary of any exhibitions they have been a part of.
If you are interested in exhibiting you should fill in the application form which you can obtain from the shop, and send it, with a selection of photographs, to the shop, care of Alison, Project Manager.

Sarah writes:
I have lived in Whitecroft in the Forest of Dean for three years. I paint primarily the Forest and Wye valley areas and I specialise in painting in oil paints on canvas. I exhibit every year in my local Whitecroft Memorial hall and take part in Open Studios every year. More examples of my work can be viewed on the Bigart.net web site along side all other artists in the area.

I will be exhibiting at the Signal box in Tintern later in the year and also The Dean Hereitage centre. I have exhibited and sold with Artiste 3 in Hereford and currently exhibit my work in The Rainbow Bookshop and cafe in Chepstow, The Croft Restaurant in Ross-on-Wye and at the Swan Gallery in Monmouth.
I paint the forest because I love it. Walking my dog everyday gets me out in all weathers and all seasons and I am often seen lurking in bushes with my digital camera to capture the light in the trees or laid on the ground getting a close up of some snowdrops! The majority of my work is painted fro the walkers perspective. I like to paint the forest as I see it and try to capture the magic of nature.
I welcome visiters by appointment all the year round. I can be contacted on 01594 562862.
